Exploring our Free ECM Titanium Webinars

Are you looking to elevate your remapping skills? At VIEZU we believe in empowering the tuning community through education. We have curated a series of free ECM Titanium webinars designed to take you under the hood of professional map writing.

Whether you are a seasoned pro or just starting with Alientech’s tuning software these sessions provide a deep dive into the logic and methodology required for high-quality tuning.

Why You Should Watch These ECM Titanium Webinars

Reading about tuning is one thing but seeing a master tuner navigate a live tuning file is where the real learning happens. These webinars are condensed masterclasses that move past the “guesswork” often found in online forums. By watching the full sessions you will learn:

  • Live Map Writing: Watch Simon White build a file from scratch in real-time. You will see exactly which maps to click, how to highlight data and how to apply changes safely.
  • The “Why” Behind the “How”: We don’t just tell you to change a value; we explain the mechanical consequence. You will learn the relationship between pedal position, boost pressure and exhaust gas temperatures.
  • Tuning Software Secrets: Discover hidden features in ECM Titanium 3.0 such as using the 2D and 3D graph views simultaneously to spot “spikes” in your data that could cause driveability issues.
  • Troubleshooting: Simon White addresses live Q&A throughout the sessions answering the exact questions you likely have about “limp mode” flat spots and sensor limits.

Master the Investigation Phase

The most significant takeaway from our ECM Titanium training sessions is the Investigation Phase. Before changing a single value Simon White demonstrates how to map out the factory strategy.

For the Audi A4 2.0 TDI this involves identifying the “clipping points”. If the ECU is hard-coded to a 320 Nm limit but you only increase the driver’s request map the car will not go any faster. You must align the entire hierarchy of limiters to see a real-world gain.

In the gasoline session focusing on the Audi S3 2.0 TFSI we shift to an air-based strategy. A key tip shared is the “Rule of 70” for Bosch ECUs. To understand what the percentage of air means in real terms use this formula:

Mbar = {Load% – 70} x10

This allows you to convert abstract percentages into millibar so you know exactly how much boost you are asking the turbo to deliver.

Key Facts and Technical Insights

Our vehicle tuning webinars go beyond the basics to provide actionable data for your tuning business:

  • The ABC Method: When modifying torque limiters VIEZU recommends a staged approach. Area A builds up from 1500 RPM to peak torque. Area B holds the peak through the mid-range. Area C tails the modification back down. This prevents drivetrain judder and ensures longevity.
  • The Power of SOI: Start of Injection (SOI) is the diesel equivalent of spark timing. Advancing this (typically by 8% or roughly 2 degrees) improves combustion efficiency. If you see changes of 5 or 6 degrees on a passenger car you are likely pushing into dangerous territory.
  • Thermal Management: In gasoline engines extra fuel is often added not for power but for cooling. If the Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGT) get too high the ECU enters “Component Protection” mode. By subtly adjusting these maps (e.g. leaning out 0.81 lambda slightly at high RPM) you can stop the ECU from “squashing” your power gains on the dyno.
  • Wastegate & Compressor Surge: On the Audi S3’s K04 turbo bringing boost in too early can cause compressor surge. This is why the webinar demonstrates starting boost increases at 2250 RPM rather than 1500 RPM to respect the physical limits of the turbocharger.

Learning How To Tune Vehicles: Professional Hints and Tips

  • Note Taking: Always keep a “trusty pen and paper” by the side. Note down the stock peak torque and the RPM at which it occurs. This becomes your anchor point across every map you open.
  • The 100% Column: For a performance Stage 1 remap, focus your efforts on the high-load columns. Changing values in the cruising range can negatively impact fuel economy and driveability in traffic.
  • Interpolation Awareness: The ECU averages data between cells. If your request map is set to 220% but your limiter is at 190% the ECU will naturally “clip” the performance.
  • Safety Margins (The Battery Factor): During the “write” process shown in the webinars always ensure you have a battery stabiliser connected. Modern ECUs can pull over 40A during a flash; if voltage drops below 12.5V you risk “bricking” the unit.

Free ECM Titanium Webinars FAQs

What version of ECM Titanium is used in the training?

The webinars demonstrate the latest ECM Titanium 3.0 showcasing the updated drivers and the offset features that allow you to use files from other tools like Autotuner or bFlash.

Can I apply these techniques to other ECU brands?

Yes. While we use Audi and VW examples the methodology (request vs limit and air-to-fuel balancing) is universal across Bosch Siemens and Marelli systems.

Do I need a dyno to follow this training?

While a dyno is the ultimate tool for validation you can learn the software logic without one. However VIEZU always recommends data logging on the road in controlled conditions to ensure your “calculated” changes match “real-world” results.

How often are VIEZU releasing new webinars?

We are recording webinars monthly. Our latest webinar covered the VW Golf GTI (MED17.5) live tuning tutorial on how to write your own mappack with WinOLS5.
