Aston Martin Remapping

VIEZU were the first to release full OBD tuning for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and went on to develop OBD remapping for the DB9 and the rest of the range. That makes VIEZU one of the most established Aston Martin tuning specialists in the country, with custom written software that adds power and torque and sharpens throttle response across the Vantage, DB9, DB11, DBS, DBX and Rapide.

Aston Martin maps its engines with a wide safety margin to cope with different fuel grades, climates and market rules. A remap works inside that margin to give the car the response and mid range it already had in it, without changing any hardware.

Real Results On Real Aston Martins

Every Aston Martin map is written and tested rather than pulled from a generic library, and the output is checked by testing and measuring on the rolling road. Online BHP calculators and plug in checkers are the least accurate way to measure a result because they estimate from broad assumptions and ignore the condition of your engine. A dynamometer measures real power rather than predicting it.

Aston Martin Models We Tune

VIEZU tunes most of the Aston Martin range, older and current models alike. Each model has its own product and pricing detail, and you can configure your exact car through the listings below.

The Aston Martin Vantage is one of the most popular cars we tune, across the earlier V8 and V12 cars and the 2018 onward generation. We also tune the Aston Martin DB9, the Aston Martin DB11 and the flagship Aston Martin DBS. For the SUV we cover the Aston Martin DBX, and for the four door car the Aston Martin Rapide. Older and limited models including the Virage, Vanquish and Zagato are covered too.

Tuning Or Remapping, And Why The Difference Matters

These two words get used as if they mean the same thing, and they do not. Remapping is reprogramming the engine control unit, the computer that controls fuelling, ignition timing, boost where fitted and throttle mapping. Tuning is the wider term that covers both software and physical hardware. All remapping is tuning, but not all tuning is remapping.

On most modern Aston Martin models the remap goes in through the OBD port. There is no cutting and no soldering, and the original file can be put back at any time. On the bench we read the standard file, develop the changes, then write the new file back to the ECU.

The Tuning Stages, In Plain Terms

The industry describes how far a build goes using stages. Once you know what each means, the shorthand is useful.

Stage 1 is software only, with no physical changes to the car. The map works inside the safe limits of the standard hardware, which is why it suits the majority of Aston Martin owners who want more power and torque without mechanical work. Our Stage 1 remap page covers it in full.

Stage 2 pairs software with moderate hardware, usually a higher flowing air filter or an upgraded exhaust, with the map then rewritten around the improved airflow. See our Stage 2 remap guide for the details.

Stage 3 means a significant hardware overhaul, for example larger forced induction parts or uprated injectors on applicable engines, with bespoke software built around it. Most Aston Martin owners do not need it, and it is not developed for every model.

For most cars Stage 1 gives the gain, you, the owners are after. We tell you which stage actually suits your Aston Martin rather than pushing the biggest one.

Going Further Than The Remap

A remap is the starting point. For owners who want more than software, an upgraded performance exhaust system changes how the engine breathes and sounds, and works alongside a fresh map. We also handle broader performance tuning and, where the aim is efficiency rather than power, economy tuning. The Jaguar F-Type Predator shows how far VIEZU takes a full custom build.

Is An Aston Martin Remap Road Legal

A remap is road legal in the UK as long as the car stays compliant with emissions rules. There are some things we will not do for a road car. For example, Pops and bangs maps are for off road, motorsport or show use only, and a car set up that way is not road legal and would have to be trailered rather than driven away.

Two things to know. Always tell your insurer about a remap, because an undeclared modification can affect a claim. And while a remap does not automatically void a manufacturer warranty, the manufacturer may refuse to cover drivetrain components if it  proves a fault was caused by a modification. VIEZU covers this with its own supplementary insurance backed warranty against component failure. There is more in our car remapping guide.

What does a Stage 1 Aston Martin tune involve?

A Stage 1 tune for an Aston Martin is software only, with no physical changes. The ECU is reprogrammed to improve fuelling, ignition timing and throttle response inside the safe limits of the standard hardware. It is the most popular option for owners who want more power, torque and a sharper drive without mechanical work.

What is a Stage 2 Aston Martin tune?

A Stage 2 Aston Martin tune combines software with moderate hardware, usually a higher flowing air filter or an upgraded exhaust, with the map rewritten to suit the new airflow so the two work together.
