Description
Unlock protected Bosch MD1 and MG1 ECUs in your own workshop
The Alientech KESS3 Unlock Module is a dedicated accessory developed for workshops that need to work with selected protected Bosch MD1 and MG1 ECUs. It expands the operations available through KESS3 by enabling the supported BOOT Unlock procedure to be carried out directly in-house, rather than separating the unlock stage from the later programming process.
The module extends workshop capability across a broad mix of diesel and petrol cars, SUVs, commercial vehicles and agricultural applications, helping technicians keep the unlock and programming process in-house.
Compatible ECUs include MD1CS003, MD1CS069, MD1CP007, MD1CS012, MG1CS042, MD1CS004 HW80, MG1CS031, MD1CP006, MD1CS005 and MG1CS002. A KESS3 CAR BENCH/BOOT activation and active subscription are required.

What does the module do?
The module is specifically designed to manage the BOOT Unlock procedure on supported ECUs. Once the unlock has been completed, KESS3 can access the ECU memories in BOOT mode, allowing reading, writing and a complete backup of the ECU contents. This gives the technician control of the process from initial unlock through to memory access and subsequent programming.
Which ECUs are supported?
At launch, Alientech lists support for MD1CS003, MD1CS069, MD1CP007, MD1CS012, MG1CS042, MD1CS004 (HW80), MG1CS031, MD1CP006, MD1CS005 and MG1CS002. Coverage applies to selected applications produced from 2021 onwards across a wide range of manufacturers. Be sure to check the official supported vehicle list for the latest coverage.
